Create a nature portfolio layout
->
In this tutorial I will show you how to create a different portfolio layout. It is very important to have a great website for your portfolio. Only in this way you can atract potential clients. If you want to start working as a freelancer i suggest you to create an eye catching layout to start properly in your business.
I will use a great texture downloaded from Grafplus.
PSD layout available only for VIP members
Download Resources
Download wood seamless pattern
Leaf stock image
Open the image in Photoshop, and after that go to Edit > Define pattern. Choose a name for this pattern and click OK.
The next step is to create a new document where we will create our nature portfolio layout.
I will choose the following size
Then I will Choose Paint Bucket Tool and I will set the source for fill area to pattern. I will select the pattern we just created in my last step
Then I will click one time inside the document an I will fill the document with this nice seamless wood texture downloaded from Grafplus
I will select another image from my stock collection. I will use an old style book. I will place this image over my wood texture
You can see already from 2 steps we have already a nice looking layout. With Horizontal Type Tool I will add some text
Then I will add some images. I will use some images with the last tutorial I have created in the past days
For all this small images I will add the following layer style
This is my result
With Polygonal Lasso Tool I will make a selection on the corner of the images
I will select the layer with the old book, and I will press on CTRL+J. Using this shortcut I will cut a part from the old book image and I will create a new layer.
I will drag this small corner over the image with one of my tutorials
Then I will add the following layer style
This is my result so far
With the same technique I will create also the same effect on the opposite corner
I will create the same corners for all the images from this layout
I will add also another image the right side of the book, and I will create the same corners
Now I will use a leaf image and I will add this image on the corner of the book
I will duplicate this image a few times, and after I will rotate the leaf I will have the following result
I will add the same leaf also on the other corners of my old style stock image
Then in one corner I will add also an image with a ladybug
This is my final result.

nice nature portfolio layout, thanks..
Very nice. I love how the images are in the page. Very cool tutorial
Great tutorial, i will be trying this out after some hours
Looks nice. I like the combination of textures. I like the idea of “tucking” the corners of the portfolio pieces into the page. The only thing I don’t care for is the way the leaves are presented. They need a bit of shadow and some variation in color. It would look more natural. Right now they are flat and bright. If they were a bit darker and more subtle, they would not detract so much from the portfolio pieces.
I really like this layout – I always like earthy tones.
One thing – you didn’t give us a link to either the book or the leaf images. We could look them up ourselves, but I doubt most people would do that.
Other than that, great tutorial!
The link for leaf is on the top of the tutorial
Oh My GOD, this tutorial is very easy to follow and the end result is great. I like how you create the layouts. From a long time i did not find such nice looking tutorials
Thank you Grafpedia
